secrets of Boston

Steinert Hall from Andrew Vella on Vimeo.

I was doing some late night reading when I stumbled across this hidden gem: Steinert Hall. After just seeing an excellent new music premiere in another subterranean art space in Boston, it seemed really fitting.

I have always loved abandoned buildings. The way they physically articulate how a place has changed is fascinating. You cannot get a clearer sense of what a society valued, and how that has changed. The destruction of the original Penn Station in New York illustrates this. The fact that one such place exists under one of my favorite spots in downtown Boston—one that unites my love of abandoned buildings AND music—is too great!
