L.A. to San Francisco

tp: happy birthday Evan!!!

Guess what everyone...we got a late start!  We were up and ready to go and almost left at a decent hour, but then we decided to go out to brunch with Chris and Vince.  The food was tasty, but not amazing.  We returned to Vince’s pad, finished packing up, took some group photos, and said our goodbyes.  We were finally on the road by 10:30 or 11.  The reason we really wanted to leave early was to make it to San Francisco by 8pm in order to drop off Evan’s car for an oil change and a second opinion on the problems we were having in Flagstaff.  We pressed on mostly without stopping.  We did stop briefly and take some pictures of the elephant seals.  We drove up partly on route 101 to make some good time, and then partly on coastal route 1.  Route 1 was beautiful.  Think windy mountain roads overlooking the Pacific.  It’s too bad we didn’t have more time to stop and explore, but we needed to press on.  We drove through many farms on the way, and finally made it in to SF.  It was 8:40pm when we pulled in and we were not hopeful about dropping off the car.  However, we decided to stop at the Honda dealership and see if anyone was there.  Our luck held out, and there were people there.  They only needed a little convincing and they let us park the car.  It also means that our belongings and car will be safe until Monday when we leave.  We hopped the bus and met up with Alden (sarah) Conant.  Yay Skidmore friends!  We dropped off our stuff at her apartment, met her housemates, and then headed out for a late dinner of tasty indian food.  After dinner we went home and watched a movie before retiring for the evening.  We made it an early evening so we would have energy to explore SF in the morning and be awake to celebrate Evan’s birthday in style!
