San Francisco, city of francisco

tp:  We woke up and hung out for a little bit.  There are 4 people living here currently: Eli, Joel, Sarah, and Alden (aka sarah conant).  Liz, who we met and is a friend of Bond’s will be moving into the room we are staying in after we leave.  It was a nice morning to get to know everyone.  Alden was invited to a brunch, so we all headed out to eat some good food and explore SF.
ef: the brunch was fantastic. every kind of breakfast food was available, and we brought champagne and orange-mango juice for mimosas. good people, excellent dog (with a skirt and pearls) good times.
after brunch
tp: we explored Haight Street.  Haight is home to many cool homes, many cool shops, and many tourists, especially in the upper section.  The extreme end of our journey took us to Amoeba Records, the SF version.  Everyone bought something this time.  I picked up the DVD of Trailer Park Boys, a hilarious Canadian sitcom about two guys living in a trailer park.  It is filmed documentary style and features a very dry humor.  I was excited to pick it up.  We meandered back down Haight and picked up two chairs that Alden bought for her back porch.  We carried them back the 5 blocks to her apartment.  Liz was at the apartment hanging out.  After a moment of regrouping, we headed back out, this time in Liz’s car, in order to drive up twin peaks and see the city from above.  We were racing the fog, and made it to the top just in time to see a brief glimpse of the city before getting totally socked in.  We drove down and tried again at a little lower vantage, and did a little better, but not much.  However, there were some wild blackberries growing by the road that were tasty.  We headed back to the apartment for another brief stop.  We hung out for a couple hours before going out for dinner at a Thai place right down the street.  Joel and Liz came out with us.  We ordered several different meals and shared them all.  The large portion rule still applied, so we all ate enough and had some left over as well.  We were all a little tired, so we went home to rest up before going out again to celebrate Evan’s birthday.  We also had to wait for Alden to get home from dinner with her aunt.  We delved into the Trailer Park Boys.  Afterwards we went out to explore Mission, the late night scene of San Francisco.  There was a lot going on, but we were looking for a cool place to simply hang out.  We went to Elixir which fit the bill.  It was homey and low key inside, perfect for a couple of drinks and some good conversation.  The day’s activities finally caught up with us, and we went home after about and hour or so.
