ef: day 2 in la for me started off with a lovely bike ride. lee was kind enough to lend me his bike, and i road the 2 miles down texas avenue to santa monica beach. i then headed south along a bike path that goes right along the beach. i road past santa monica peer and through venice. both are pretty touristy but the beaches are beautiful. clean white sand and really wide. venice has a reputation for being eccentric. it was the birthplace of modern skateboarding and i guess it used to be kind of a ghetto. now it’s pretty much tourist-oriented, but the type of tourists who are interested in seeing the birthplace of modern skateboarding.
the bike ride got the day started on the right foot, since i was a little hung over and the exercise got me going.
when i got back vince and tim met me at lees and we headed out to lunch and then down to manhattan beach. this beach is gigantic: miles long and really really wide.
we swam in the pacific thus making our arrival on the west coast official. then i took a beach nap. the temperature was perfect, around 80 with a nice cool breeze.
we left the beach and i headed back to lees to change while tim went back to vince’s. then i met them at Zanku Chicken: an armenian fast food restaurant mentioned in the song “Debra” by beck. sarah and her brother steve were there as well.
after dinner we went to a hookah bar to talk and drink yogurt and armenian coffee. and then...
CHRIS LIND
chris arrived and all hell broke loose. or rather, we just hung out for the rest of the night and chris slept at lees with us.
